Reflections on blogging...

Hi there lovely readers,
after a much needed time out, I realized a few things.... first off, I missed blogging. I missed it almost instantly. But I also felt relieved. Knowing that I didn't have to come up with a post idea for the next day was a huge weight off my shoulders. For those of you out there who have blogs and a demanding career or children, I salute you! I don't know how you manage to keep up, but if you have any tips, please let me know!
I guess it comes down to just going at your own pace, even if that means not posting every day.... so that's what I'll try to do.

Blogging is kind of like exercise.... it's a lot of work, and it takes time & commitment, put the payoffs are huge. You don't even necessarily realize the many ways it uplifts you, but you know you feel better when you do it. So thanks to all of you, and your encouraging words and support, it gives me so much.

Welcome back Vanessa .. even if it is only part time! In all selfishness, I was sad thinking that I wouldn't get to read 'Hey, Lady Grey' every day, but, I will enjoy it when it is there!
I certainly know what it is like to need a break and to really take time for reflection. It is easy to get caught up in the things you can have absolute control over, like a blog, and not the life that spins around it. You are more than dedicated to many things in your life; work and school, your husband, your family and your community. Those of us who get to share in your life with your blog are privileged!
I respect your need for time and for things that are tangible. I just wanted you to know how much joy I get reading your blog. We were such good friends a long time ago and this space makes me feel as though I still get to share in your life more often than I have been able to over the past years, so thank you, thank you for sharing.

Much love,
Amanda

Welcome back. I don't know how people blog everyday and some more then once a day. Try once a week or maybe even twice which even I find sometimes to be a lot to do.

So good to have you back!!

I know what you mean....there is a kind of pressure...I just try not to let it get to me (isn't always that easy though)!
Used to feel guilty if I didn't post each day...now...it's just the way it is!

Hi Vanessa,
I've always been surprised actually at how often you did blog, especially as I know you have a stressful job and this is meant to be relaxing for you. Blogging should always be fun. I don't blog everyday specifically for the reason that I don't want to ever make it something I 'have' to do.. and to be honest I just don't have the time or desire. Life is all about finding balance and there are many other things I enjoy doing as well. Your blog has always been so wonderful and I'm sure you'll continue, as its something you love. But I think its good that you have realized that balance comes before blogging :)

I only blog when the mood is right....never give yourself stress in blogging...cause then it's just fun at all....we all need to chill......

Blogging is such a weird and different world. For those who have children, I have no clue how they do it!

So true! I think it's definitely best to post whenever you want to, I don't think most readers even recognize a set schedule anyway, haha :)

So lovely to see you again! I really like your blogging philosophy, to go at your own pace... hope you find that nice balance and blogging remains a fun outlet, even if it means giving yourself the space/room to make it so :)

Welcome back vanessa :) I know exactly how you feel!

Lots of things have been changing for me over the last couple of months and my blogging has slipped which I permanently felt bad about for a few weeks. I have now decided that if I can post 1-2 posts a week to keep things ticking over until I am back in a proper weekly routine I'll be happy. Taking the pressure off feels so good and I know I will get back to blogging more often soon.

Sorry that sort of became all about me but what im trying to say is we all need a break sometimes so dont worry we are all still here waiting for you :)

Welcome back! I totally understand the need for a blog break. It really is a lot of pressure put on you. I started blogging when I had an office job and it was more of an escape from work than anything at first. But then I started receiving comments and really got to love blogging. Now I can't live without it. It's such a great community of people who really are sweet and encouraging and inspiring.

I just had this conversation with my husband last Friday...sometimes it all just seems like too much!! I think it's neccessary to take mini breaks here & there so you can refresh & feel excited about it. When it starts feeling like a chore I know I need a few days off. Overall, the community is bigger & better than I ever imagined and I can't picture it not being a part of my life. But life has other important parts too :) We'll be around!

So glad to see you back and it sounds like you've made peace with a new schedule of blogging - or no real schedule! When the mood strikes and the time is right...there are ebbs and flows - (is that the right phrase?) and that's ok. (I just gave myself this same talk!)
