Sunday

Weekend Moments -The only way to live in a cold country is to go out and enjoy it!

It was twenty below zero in Montreal this weekend. We debated hibernating in the apartment with Netflix for three days, but instead we decided to drive out to the country and embrace this icy cold country we live in.

We borrowed my father's vintage snowshoes and headed out into the snow-covered fields (apparently they belonged to my great-grandfather, that's how old they are!)
My husband was impressed with how high he could jump with the snowshoes on.
(I was too, of course)

I'm not sure I ever truly appreciated how beautiful winter is before.

And for the first time in my life, I saw a Sun Dog... I didn't even know what that was before this weekend. It's a solar phenomenon that occurs on really cold days when the air is filled with millions of tiny ice crystals. Sort of like a winter rainbow. It was magnificent!

I hope you had a beautiful weekend too.

Beautiful photos- Really amazing- I totally agree that when you live in a cold climate you have to embrace it- I'm impressed by how high Mr. Grey can jump too- My SIL just sent us photos of their w/e in Muskoka and everything was so pretty- We played baseball in sweat shirts and that was good too.

I've never used snow shoes!! They look so cool! I haven't embraced the snow this year as much as I usually do. Maybe I'll get some sledding in!

Your pictures are totally gorgeous! Good for you for getting out there. I always tell people that in Canada we just need to pile on the layers to cut out the cold - you did us proud :) Love the snowshoes!!

oh shit! I think I saw one of those winter rainbows a few weeks ago! I had no idea... I just thought it was some weird rainbow type thing. Sun dog.. interesting. I should put up my photos on the blog.
Oh AND I also could not stay locked in despite the cold, I spent the whole day on the mountain. It was cold but so beautiful out.
