Lately... We're Soaking up the Summer

Life is finally starting to slow down again. And that is a very good thing.
I can't believe it's already mid-July. Where has the time gone?

(above: homemade cherry pie - which my mother made using the cherries from their cherry tree. What a treat!)

This was our last week in Montreal before heading back up north, so we tried our best to make the most of it. Even though it still stresses us out a bit, we brought Zac out for lunch with us to a new restaurant almost every day. Since trendy little cafés and restaurants rarely have high chairs, Zac eats off my lap and I eat over his head. We both make a huge mess and our clothes get covered with food stains. It's a good thing Zac is such a charmer with the servers or we might not be welcomed back. It probably also helps that we leave very generous tips ;)

^^^(1,2) Lawrence on St. Laurent, (3) One of my favourite coffee shops opened a coffee counter around the corner from our apartment - yay! (4) Walking around Griffintown, (5) Lunching at TaChido - a seriously amazing little Mexican snack bar, also right around the corner from our apartment. (6) My new Keep Cup - I love this thing! It's both dishwasher & microwave safe too! ^^^

And yesterday we said goodbye to Montreal and boarded the small propeller plane for the north.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit sad... I so love being in Montreal in the summertime.
But I am trying to stay positive, and I'm vowing to make the most of our time up here. And besides, it's only for a month this time. We'll be back in August.... just in time to savour in all the garden's bounty!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

That pie looks so amazing. I want to make one. How did she make the cherry mixture? Same as any other berry with sugar and flour? And hope you're enjoying your time up north again. :)
