midweek moments: I'll always love the city but I love the country more...

Montreal, you certainly look beautiful these days!
The husband and I are on vacation this week and we're really indulging in life's little pleasures.... like soaking up our beautiful city, sleeping in, and making pancake breakfasts with fresh berry sauce.
Now that's the life!

I drove out to the country yesterday to visit my parents. As much as I love the city, I will always be a country girl at heart. This is where I recharge. This is where I feel whole again.

Walking through fields, picking flowers, baking with fresh farm eggs... it's magical!

I spent the afternoon baking with my mom and her lovely French friend, who taught us how to make her favourite Coeur au Chocolat. It was magnifique!

I just can't get enough of this place!
(And now that I've recharged in the country we're headed off for some real big city livin'.....  NYC for the rest of the week!!)

Are you a city mouse or a country mouse?

I hate to get all stalker-y, but where in the country do you hail from?
I too am a country mouse, through and through. I feel like Victoria is a nice compromise though!

I grew up in the country but now live in the city- could never choose! Love having a home in each place.

Beautiful photos!

the country definitely reconnects us to nature :) so simple and refreshing after living in the city.

it depends for me, i can appreciate both. I miss the country because that is were my family is. But the city has so much more to offer me at the moment.

that looks incredible, i must say. there is always something about clothes on the line that makes me so nostalgic for my summers in KY when I was growing up! I thought I was a city girl but living in a village this past year has been amazing. it's so quiet and beautiful! we'll see how i adjust to moving to the city next month!

Alice, I grew up in the Eastern Townships (rural Quebec). I think you're right that Victoria just might be the perfect solution to the country-city dilemma.... I just wish it was closer to Montreal! xo

What a pretty post! Enjoyed Montreal so much when I went a couple of years ago. I will say that I have to have both!! City life and a reclusive country life once in a while:)

I am a city mouse, for sure, but I do love a little visit to more rural areas! Looks like your parent's place is the perfect escape when you need to recharge. And how nice you guys have a whole week off. We just booked tickets to California for a vacation in July, and I'm already sooooo ready to be there! Have a great time in NYC, getting a good city fix!

I'm a city mouse who lives in the country... but I love it and would even love to take it a step further and live on a farm. I love your photos and I'm actually drinking coffee from my I Heart NY mug right now :)

I love our city but the country will always have my heart too. When we moved off the island to Laval (from the West Island) it was a shock to my system, it's where I had grown up and trips downtown were always so easy. Well I have to say that i'm loving the countryside of Laval and all the farms that we are lucky to have close by.
Your parents home looks heavenly and that coeur au chocolat look absolutely délicieux!
Happy weekend and thank you so much for your kind words about our Shiraz.

i can relate 100%... we live in a busy neighborhood in Melbourne but i love going out to my man's parent's country farm. the light is different. the scents and sounds are different. we absolutely get re-charged (and fed! can't complain) :)

lovely that you have a little refuge, too.
