Café Sardine - my new favourite Montreal coffee shop

I've been trying to distract myself lately from the fact that I'm 39 weeks pregnant and still no signs of impending labour.
So we've been trying a new Montreal restaurant every day for lunch. After all, who knows the next time we'll be able to eat out once the baby arrives.

I've been meaning to try Café Sardine for almost a year now, but never seemed to find the time. Boy am I ever happy that I did, because it was love at first sight - or first taste, more likely.

This tiny little coffee shop in Mile End totally exceeded our expectations. Delicious (and very unique) sandwiches, amazing coffee, friendly unpretentious service, and best of all - the homemade doughnuts. My husband had the chocolate-orange doughnut and I had a sugar & cardamom one (which, for the record, is God's gift to pregnant women).

Both of us can't wait to go back to try their dinner menu.

Sugar and cardamom donut?! That sounds fabulous! And no, it's not just because I'm pregnant too. :-)
