Weekend Moments....

We had an overall pleasant weekend - but there definitely were some ups and downs.

Zachary decided that he no longer needs to sleep at night.
He's been waking up in the middle of the night for the past 3 nights and refuses to fall back asleep. And he's not upset about it either (unlike his parents), he just wants to play.
So here we are at 3 am desperately trying to shhhhh, shhhh, shhhhh him back to sleep, while he smiles at as playfully and practises his babbling throaty gurgling sounds.

And it is so hard to feel mad at him when you see him looking up at you so innocently.
(what, mom, you don't like 3am happy hour?)

Needless to say, our mornings were slow & sluggish this weekend.

But on Saturday night I escaped to a friend's house for a lobster tail and pasta dinner (which I might add is a very exceptional menu up here in the far north).

And for dessert... the most scrumptious cookies I've had in a very long time, and a chocolate-orange ricotta pie. Fancy!

It did me a lot of good to be out of the house and having adult conversation again.
And a tall glass of wine didn't exactly hurt either.

I've been making more of an effort to brave the cold these days.

My neighbour lent me her Chariot Carrior, which is an all-terrain deluxe stroller with suspension that can handle anything. I pushed it through ice and snow drifts, and up and down streets that never get ploughed... it was amazing!

And Zac slept the whole time - even more amazing!

I hope you had a lovely weekend, and that you got a lot more sleep than I did.

So lovely, indeed! I love hearing about all your dinner parties, even though I know they are few and far between now. Lovely photos, as always.
PS... Zach needs to sleep.

he is like the cutest thing, oh man. sorry about your new nighttime adventures though....
is there a way to not get him up and moving around? then i'm afraid he might make that a habit!

I know, you're right about the habit thing... these little ones form bad sleep habits sooooo easily! I tried to make it as un-fun as possible! He didn't do it last night, thankfully. Actually looking back, I think he may have been going through a growth spurt because he was waking every 1-2 hours all weekend, but it seems to (hopefully) be better again.
